Description: United 10-inch 78 RPM record # A523 is "Aus der Jugendzeit" by Emil Muench; and "Kuessen ist keine Suend'" by Hans Horsten, both sung in German. Please note that United was one of those labels that produced records with wider than standard spindle holes - you can play it on a regular turntable, but you have to center it just right or the sound will be distorted. Very kindly, however, someone has ground the hole even larger so that it will now accommodate a 45 rpm adapter, which solves the centering problem for standard turntables (but makes it worse if you want to play it on a United-compatible phonograph).Visually, it is heavily played, dull from wear and with visible surface scuffs and scratches. I've played it on my Audio-Technica turntable, and there were no skips or jumps, but some audible background noise throughout, including some clicks and pops and ticking as well as general background hiss. Because of variations in tracking ability, filtering technology and needle weights, I can offer no guarantees as to how well it will play on your equipment.
